CUPPING

Suction that pulls healing to the surface.

An ancient technique made modern. At MBODY in Westlake Village, cupping isn’t an add-on- it’s a clinical tool applied by expert hands to release tension, restore circulation, and get you moving without restriction.

Cupping therapy uses negative pressure- rather than compression- to lift soft tissue, increase blood flow, and break up adhesions in the fascia. What looks dramatic on the outside is actually a deep release happening beneath the skin.

“Not all tension releases from the top down. Sometimes you have to pull it up.”

At MBODY, cupping is practiced by clinicians who understand the body structurally. That means we’re not just placing the cups- we’re targeting specific tissue patterns, coordinating with your movement, and integrating it into a broader plan for how your body feels and functions.

It can be used alone or layered into massage, bodywork, or physical therapy for a more complete session.

Four techniques.
One goal.

Static cupping.

Cups are placed and held in targeted areas to draw circulation to the surface, decompress tissue, and relieve localized tension. Simple, effective, and deeply relaxing.

Best for: concentrated tension, trigger points, localized pain

Dynamic cupping.

Cups glide along the skin with gentle oil, releasing fascial restrictions across broader areas. Think of it as a massage in reverse- lifting instead of pressing

Best for: fascial tightness, broader muscle groups, flexibility.

Active cupping.

Movement is incorporated during the session- you breathe, reach, or rotate while the cups are in place. This allows the tissue to release under load, producing more lasting change.

Best for: Rehab, mobility restrictions, injury recovery

Functional cupping.

The most aggressive technique. Cups are moved during functional movements to maximize effectiveness.

Best for: athletes, injury recovery, maximum benefit.
